Programs & Support: Faculty Mentoring

Your department or academic unit may have formal and/or informal mentoring opportunities that are available to you – ask your chair or department head.  Some faculty members, however, find that it can be valuable to work with someone outside their academic unit or department to provide a different perspective.

Whatever your preference, if you are interested in being paired with another Mason faculty member, then we are happy to identify a mentor for you.  We ask that you contact us with the following information:

  • Your name, academic unit, and contact information
  • Areas for which you are seeking mentoring (e.g., teaching/advising, research, grant writing, other professional development, etc.)
  • What you seek from a mentoring relationship

We shall review your information, investigate possibilities, and identify a mentor for you.  Please note that this is an informal program – once you are paired with a faculty mentor we ask that you meet with that person and discuss your mutual expectations.

Confidentiality Statement and Policy:  The CTE respects the confidentiality of individuals who participate in the consultation process.  Center staff will not share your private information except to confirm, if you desire it, that you have taken advantage of our service.
